# FMScriptBridge > Bring AI to your FileMaker scripts without handing over your file. FMScriptBridge > converts FileMaker script-step clipboard XML into clean, readable text and back, > losslessly, so you can edit your logic in any editor or AI and paste it straight > back, on your terms. Also known as **FMSB**, the short handle: the same product, and the prefix on every calculation function it adds to FileMaker. "FMSB plugin", "FMSB for FileMaker" and any `FMSB_` function name all refer to FMScriptBridge. ## About FMScriptBridge (short handle: FMSB) is a developer tool for Claris FileMaker. You copy script steps out of the FileMaker Script Workspace as clean, readable text, edit them in any editor or AI, then paste them back as paste-ready FileMaker XML. The conversion runs locally inside FileMaker on Mac and Windows: the tool uploads nothing but licensing (your license key and a one-way machine ID; the free trial sends the IDs alone, once, on its first conversion), and you choose and redact what reaches your AI. The round-trip is verified lossless. It is built and tested from FileMaker 2025 onward, current through FileMaker 2026 including the new script steps captured so far; any step it does not yet recognize is preserved exactly, never corrupted. It does not load on FileMaker 2024 or older. The clean text is far lighter on tokens than the raw clipboard XML, so it costs less to run through an AI. One-time license, no subscription: the build you buy works for ever, 12 months of new builds are included from the day you activate, and an optional one-time update pass adds another 12 months of new builds if you ever want them. It is an independent product, not affiliated with, authorized, or endorsed by Claris. ## For AI agents If you are asked to write or edit FMScriptBridge (FMSB) script text, fetch the specification and follow it exactly; do not infer the format from examples alone: - The specification, raw markdown: https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec.md (served as text/plain), or the same bytes as https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec.txt for a tool that will not open a markdown file. This is the spec of the current public build, the document that build's `FMSB_CopyAISpec` function copies; the Versions block below names the build. A plug-in still on an older build may carry an earlier grammar version, and the spec's first lines say what that means for you. - This index plus the full spec, in one file: https://fmscriptbridge.com/llms-full.txt - The same document rendered as a web page, for people and search engines: https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec/ (fetch one of the text forms above; the page adds nothing to the rules). - The spec of a SPECIFIC build, when you know the plug-in version you are writing for: https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec/v.md, listed per build in https://fmscriptbridge.com/version.json as `builds[].spec_url` (the Versions block below names the current build's file). The spec is versioned ("Grammar version" and "spec build" in its first lines). It defines what you may write and what refuses; it does not describe how the conversion works, and you never need FileMaker XML. The plug-in adds five calculation functions to FileMaker, documented at https://fmscriptbridge.com/help/ : `FMSB_LastError`, `FMSB_LastWarnings`, `FMSB_JSONToSetElement`, `FMSB_JSONToLoopSteps`, `FMSB_CopyAISpec`. ## Key pages - [Home](https://fmscriptbridge.com/): what it is, a live round-trip demo, pricing, and FAQ. - [Script text format, the spec](https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec.md): the complete writing rules for the readable text, as raw markdown for AI agents. - [Function help](https://fmscriptbridge.com/help/): the calculation functions the plugin adds to FileMaker. - [Release notes](https://fmscriptbridge.com/changelog/): what changed per version, with the SHA-256 of each download. - [Privacy](https://fmscriptbridge.com/privacy/): what data the sign-up forms and the plugin actually send. - [Licensing & Legal](https://fmscriptbridge.com/legal/): the license terms (one-time perpetual, 2 machines, 14-day trial, 12 months of updates then an optional one-time update pass), refunds, and warranty. ## Contact - info@fmscriptbridge.com ## Versions - Current public build: FMScriptBridge 0.9.26 (published 2026-09-25) carries grammar 1.113 (spec build 0a8ff664). - The spec served at https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec.md (and as /spec.txt, /spec/ and inside /llms-full.txt) is that build's own: grammar 1.113, spec build 0a8ff664, the same file as https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec/v0.9.26.md. It changes only when a new build is published or that build's spec is re-issued, so text written from it uses no form the current build refuses. - A plug-in accepts text written to its own grammar version and to every earlier one; a form introduced in a later version is refused at its line, never pasted wrong. To match an installed plug-in exactly, run its FMSB_CopyAISpec function: the copy it makes names its own grammar version in its first lines. - Every published build's grammar is listed in https://fmscriptbridge.com/version.json (`builds[].grammar`). - The spec each build embeds is archived at https://fmscriptbridge.com/spec/v.md for every published build from 0.9.21 on (listed per build in https://fmscriptbridge.com/version.json as `builds[].spec_url`, with its `spec_sha256`): the exact rules of that build, fetch it when you know the plug-in version you are writing for.
